Maryam is a partner with the Law Office of Francisco Fernandez and works of Counsel with Filippov Law Group, PLLC providing counsel on all aspects of U.S. immigration, including naturalization issues, family-based immigration, and preparation for consular processing.
Maryam received her law degree from the UMASS Dartmouth School of Law in 2009. She has over ten years of immigration law experience in the full spectrum of immigrant matters. Maryam has attained the bar license in both Connecticut and Texas, and she handles United States immigration cases world-wide.
Maryam previously worked with a large global immigration firm and handled hundreds of employer sponsored visas for companies in technology and oil & gas industries. She has also served on the faculty of the National Business Institute as an instructor on immigration law to other attorneys.
Maryam’s immigration law experience includes preparation and filing of non-immigrant and immigrant visa petitions, handling permanent residence and applications for adjustment of status, PERM labor certifications, responses opposing government challenges, complex USCIS requests for evidence and notices of intent-to-deny for various petitions and business compliance issues. Prior to moving to Texas, she represented clients in deportation proceedings in Federal Courts in Boston and Hartford, and successfully overturned decisions with the Board of Immigration Appeals.
Maryam handles business immigration, family immigration and deportation defense. She is proficient in Urdu and Punjabi.
